updated 19:17The ATHEX General Index closed at 2605.71, up 35.89 points or 1.4%, continuing the rebound that began the previous session. Banks led the advance, and the press said gains were not confined to the banking sector. The closing report noted that the index's rise strengthened as crude oil's losses deepened late in the session. Breadth was positive, with 75 advancers, 35 decliners and 23 unchanged, and the median move was 0.48%. Financial Services had the strongest sector median at 1.5%, followed by Consumer Defensive at 1.37% and Energy at 1.19%. Industrials were flat at 0, while Communication Services lagged at -1.09%. Among stocks, SunriseMezz rose 8.68%, Y/Knot Invest 4.98%, Piraeus Bank 4.06% and Intracom 4.04%. The exchange operator, Athens Exchange, posted a -4.18% move, giving back the previous day's gain, according to the closing report. N. Varveris - Moda Bagno moved -2.9% and Iktinos Hellas -2.69%, with no cause given in the reports read.
